What is the TNCC course?
The Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is a comprehensive training program developed by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) to equip registered nurses with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide high-quality trauma care. It includes online learning, instructor-led sessions, and a hands-on skills evaluation.

Who is eligible to take the TNCC course?
Registered nurses (RNs) with a current, unrestricted license are eligible for full provider certification. Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and paramedics may attend the course and earn continuing education hours, but they are not eligible for provider status verification.

What will I learn in the TNCC course?
Participants will gain expertise in systematic trauma assessment, rapid identification of life-threatening injuries, and evidence-based trauma interventions. The course also includes modules on communication, shock management, and care for burn and head trauma patients.

What formats are available for TNCC training?
Encore Prep & Precept offers flexible learning options, including in-person classes in the Houston metro area and live virtual sessions via Zoom.
How does the virtual TNCC course work?
Virtual TNCC begins with required online pre-course modules hosted by ENA. Participants then attend a live Zoom session with certified instructors, engage in virtual skill stations using ENA’s manikin simulation, and complete an open-book online exam to earn certification.

What TNCC course options are available?
We offer a comprehensive 1.5-day TNCC Certification Course for first-time participants, a 1-day Fast Track Renewal Course for previously certified nurses, a TNCC Exam Prep Workshop for those preparing for the certification exam, and a Skills Challenge for experienced nurses who only require testing.

What materials are required?
All participants must have the 9th Edition ENA TNCC Provider Manual, which contains the evidence-based content used throughout the course.

How is skill testing conducted?
Skill testing is performed using ENA’s virtual manikin. Each participant is presented with a trauma scenario and must verbally walk through the Trauma Nursing Process (TNP), demonstrating how they would assess and manage the patient.

Will my employer accept this certification?
Yes. TNCC certification issued through the Course director at Encore Prep & Precept is authorized by the ENA and is accepted worldwide by employers who require trauma nursing credentials.

How long is the certification valid?
TNCC provider status is valid for four years from the date of successful course completion.
How many continuing education hours will I earn? Participants who complete the TNCC course will earn 19.50 continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hours.

Can Encore Prep & Precept come to my facility?
Yes. We offer on-site TNCC training for groups of five or more within the Houston metro area. This is a convenient option for hospitals and healthcare teams seeking group certification.

What technology do I need for virtual courses?
To participate in virtual TNCC, you’ll need a desktop or laptop computer with a working camera and microphone, access to the Zoom platform, and completion of all pre-course modules at least 24 hours before the course begins.
